dispensing error in the GP Practice
the recent incident of dispensing errors which has occurred in the GP as reported in the newspaper is alarming. It has attracted the attention from the public about the lack of check and balance in the dispensing procedures that is going on daily in our GPs' environment.
What role is there by the DoH in this issue? What role is there by the Pharmacy & Poisons Board? What role is there by the Medical Council? Who is to accredit the standards in the public sector and the private sectors?
Why do we have to learn the hard way ? Why should we wait until there is a fatal incident? Pharmacists should speak up, we should demand a system where there is a fair and transparent mechanism to protect the safety of our patients. We should not let the current practice continue- afterall, HK is an advance part of the world. Surely, we can afford better and higher quality of care.
