interested in Pharmacy....
Hello!! I am a Degree Postguate in Hong Kong and I am currently working as a Property Officer in Hong Kong. I want to change my carrer....
I am interested in Pharamcy and know very little about it (I only remember that I am very smart in HKCEE Chemistry, but I really forget all the things). I just know that being a "registered Pharmacist" in Hong Kong is very difficult....
I would like to know if I take the following courses in the future, can i become a "Registered Pharmacist" in Hong Kong....
1. Take a 3-yrs full time IVE course - Higher Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
2. Take the HKU Space course BSc in Pharmaceutical Studies (15 months evening course)
3. Take the HKU Space course B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Studies (8 months evening course)
As 2. and 3. is awarded by University of Sunderland in U.K., not from HKU and CU.... Are there any courses I need to take in order to become a "registered Pharmacist"??
Thank you very much!!

hi,Please note the
hi,
Please note the clarification below:
Graduates of all the mentioned courses (Courses 1, 2 &3) are not eligible to sit for the pharmacist licensing examination conducted by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Hong Kong. However, graduates of the HDPT (course 1) with good results are eligible to apply for an articulation programme with U of South Australia leading to a B Pharm degree. Similarly, graduates of Courses 2 and 3 are also eligible to apply for a newly-developed articulation programme between HKU SPACE & U of S Australia leading a pharmacy degree. After completing the degree, graduates could undertake internship training in Australia before returning to HK to take the licensing examination.
The only local BPharm program available is currently offered by the CUHK but there is keen competition to join the program.
Hope you find the information useful
Many thanks, dinasaur... let share my new finding
Let share with you the new finding in recent days.... (Please correct me if I am wrong)
It is impossible for a common student to enter BPharm of CUHK, you might need to get 3A, 2B for entry.... (My HKALE result is far from that).
The HDPT (IVE course) is a three-years full-time course, I might have financial difficulty once I take coz' no earning in daytime. Also, I may be too old when compared with other classmates..
I found that in HKU space, there are many part-time course of "pharmceutical studies or science".... something like that... There are 4 levels leading to the award of a honour degree of pharmceutical studies by HKU Space and Univ. of Sunderland. I realized that if you can pass all these course, you can apply for a 1- 1.5 yrs exemption in the B Pharm course held by Univ. in Australia.....
1. Foundation Certificate - about 6 months (I shall start from
Level 1 because I did not study Science in A-Level, but I studied
Science in CE level)
2. Certificate Course in Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Management - 1 year
3. Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science - 2 year
4. B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Studies - 15 months
5. B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Studies - 8 months
It will spend about 6 years time to complete the series and then an extra 2 to 2.5 years in Australia.... That needs approximately 160k to 200k for the fee... (To be continued....)
