Pharmacy Board Exam and Registration
The question about the pharmacy board exam often comes up. May I refer all of you to the excellent website below.
http://drugnet.com.hk/tea/iss_exam.htm
I do not run that website, but I find it very informative and at least it will give you concise (I think more than concise) information on the subject. It even reveals the passing rate up to 2001. I think the passing rate might still be ~50%. I understand that the board does not draw curve and limit the passing rate. But don't quote me on that.
The website also gives you a phone number of the P&P Board for you to call. I don't know how often drugnet.com.hk gets updated. You should find out the latest information from the Board itself.
I think at the moment essay type question is the mainstay. But I also heard that MC will be introduced in some of the papers, if they have not already done so. How long should you write the essay answer depends on how slow or fast you write. Length is not the problem, the content is.
Pharmacy Board Exam
Would you recommend what kind of reference materials or any relevant textbooks I can study to prepare for the exams. So far I only purchased the Pharmacy Legislation booklet from the Publications Sales Section of the Information Services Department. However, I have no ideas any good reference books I can study for the Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacology parts of the exams. Any informations can help. Thanks
reference books
I can't recommend any books for the exam. I doubt if the exam questions are based on any books. You should get copies of the past papers and see what questions they usually set and then use your own old books and notes to prepare for them. I recommend you to watch out for the Pharmaceutical Society lecture series on legislation. That will help you a great deal. Sorry, I wish I could help you more.
pharmacy issuses
Thanks for your quick response. I believe I already missed the Pharmaceutical Society lecture series on legislation on May. There are a few more questions I would like to inquire.
1. Do you have any contact person there I can speak to so that I can get the lecture series reference materials
2. Which pharmacy organization you can recommend I can join to get to know more pharmacist.
3. How is the job demand in Hong Kong
4. What is the difference between dispenser and pharmacist
5. Where can I get copies of the past papers.
6. How can I find out where has a job opening
Thanks
Enclosed with email address: amyalww2@yahoo.com if you can email me directly.

New Examination Policy
1. From Dec 2006, although a candidate passed one paper already, she/he need to resit that paper because the other two papers were failed within three years.
2. Multiple choice questions would be employed in the"Pharmacy Practice". However, candidates were not allowed the access to the past MC paper.
3. About 80% of the essay questions would become short question in the "Pharmacology" paper.
New Examination Policy
Hi Soyw, i also knew that Pharmacy Practice board exam will be employing MC types of question.. Does this mean 100% of the exam question for Pharmacy practice will be MC? or just some part.. if only part of these will be MC.. around how many percent will it be? thank you in advance!
Passing Mark
Dear Liezliu,
I have no idea of the passing mark, you may need to ask the Pharmacy and Poison Board.
From my point of view, I think MC type will be more difficult than the assay type question.
